The acting, setting, costumes and dialogue screams drivein movie fare, but the production gamely reaches out to retell the myth with a little sex, a lot of gore and an interesting take on the reanimation portion of the monster. Danl Griffin of Film as Art included the film on his top ten of the year list, praising it as a sort of Kill Billinspired homage to the Universal, Amicus, and Hammer horror flicks, a pulpy tribute to what we loved about those old films that replicates their charms while creating its own. John Collins of Weirdreview.com also recommends the film primarily for its nostalgic qualities, and he adds, This is easily the most viscous, evil Frankensteins monster I have ever encountered.
